“Im ein kemach, ein Torah. Im ein Torah, ein kemach. If there is no sustenance, there is no Torah, if there is no Torah, there is no sustenance”

If there is no means with which to acquire nourishment, then one cannot study Torah, for our bodies must be nourished properly, so that we can function effectively in the world. However, if a person solely focuses on acquiring physical nourishment through material objects, this is not sufficient either. For someone to be whole and truly sustained and engaged in life, he or she must be nourished with Torah.
