Becoming Jewish

tallis-o
  • Choosing Judaism

Choosing Judaism at Temple Emanu-El entails a period of spiritual, textual, and practical learning. The prospective convert studies about Judaism, participates in the life of the synagogue, and develops and deepens his or her personal commitment and relationship with God, Torah, and the Jewish people.

Following conversion with one of our clergy, Temple Emanu-El offers one year of free membership to Jews by choice who are not already married to a Jewish partner. This gift will allow you to experience a full cycle of synagogue life as a Jewish person, including Shabbat services, High Holidays, special events, and communal engagement.

Conversion is a challenging and powerful process. While it requires strong dedication and soul-searching, the results are extraordinary. To help you learn more about the conversion process at Temple Emanu-El, please contact our clergy to discuss your options.
