Endowment Fund

Endowment Fund Logo.Name Design

Imagine if...

  • The Temple did not have to raise dues?
  • We secured the religious futures for hundreds of congregants?
  • We had surplus funds to put towards new programs that have been waiting to be funded?
  • We secured the salaries for the clergy for a generation to come?
  • The endowment gave the Temple a new gift every year?
  • We had the funds to make necessary and much needed repairs and consistently beautify the grounds?
  • And so much more…

Why An Endowment Fund? Why Now?

Today, Temple Emanu-El relies on dues and individual fundraising requests to help fund the operating expenses of the congregation. These efforts are a tremendous help to our temple, but increasingly, they still leave a gap that needs to be filled.

Synagogues that have investment income, rather than relying solely on annual dues and donations, maintain stronger financial security and provide additional consistent funding. A strong endowment fund is the foundation for the most successful universities, religious and cultural institutions across the country. It is for this reason that we are excited to embark on this effort to build a strong and everlasting endowment, and a recurring source of income for our congregation.

What Makes the Endowment Fund Unique?

The Endowment Fund is unique from other capital or financial campaigns because it provides a perpetual source of funds for Temple Emanu-El. Each year, a portion of the balance will be distributed to support temple expenses. This means that the Endowment Fund has the potential to continue to grow year after year as contributions and investment income grow.

The greater the participation, the greater the potential growth each year. This will yield sufficient funds to benefit the congregation’s financial needs and could offset a portion of temple expenses. Ultimately, this will help to assure that Temple Emanu-El flourishes financially in the long term.

How Does It Work?

The Endowment Fund is a 501(c)(3) supporting organization of Temple Emanu-El that annually releases funds to use for ongoing programs, services and to fund new projects and initiatives. The Endowment Fund will allow Temple Emanu-El to draw a percentage of the fund’s balance annually to help fill the gap in funding that the Temple can use to build and grow for the future. Contributions to the Endowment Fund are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult with your financial advisor.

The Endowment Fund and the Life & Legacy Program

A gift to The Endowment Fund is a donation that has an impact on the Temple TODAY. If a donation today isn’t something you are ready to pursue, please consider a Life & Legacy bequest. This is a very simple arrangement where you include Temple Emanu-El or the Temple Emanu-El Endowment Fund in your will or trust, as a beneficiary on your IRA or retirement plan, or as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy.

Contact the temple office for more information.
