Get Involved

We want You!  Join in the fun.

Zimria: means songfest!

On Sundays, during religious school, 3rd-6th graders explore a variety of music, from the hottest new Jewish composers to beloved traditional melodies. Students participate through voice and instruments and have an opportunity each week to sing or play their instrument for the whole class. A love of Judaism and music is fostered in a supportive, positive and encouraging atmosphere with many chances to perform throughout the year.

Shir HaEsh: song of fire

Temple Emanu-El’s adult choir, is an inclusive group engaged in community, joyful participation and fun camaraderie. ShirHaEsh performs throughout the year in concerts, shabbat and musical programming. The ability to read music is not required! This group is for YOU if you would like to learn our music and join in exciting performances in a relaxed atmosphere!  This is a wonderful stepping-stone for anyone who is interested in joining us for future High Holy Day years.

Shir HaEsh High Holidays

Our summer weeks are filled with preparation for the High Holy Days, generally occurring in September and October.  Shir HaEsh High Holy Day Choir is geared towards four-part choir music. The repertoire includes a variety of traditional and glorious contemporary music that amplifies our high holy day worship. We  are joined by amazing professional singers. Our “pros” are a significant part of our choir community, and we love them!!

Kehilla: Community Music

Kehilla was born out of the desire of a growing number of congregants who wanted to learn our synagogue’s beloved, traditional and more contemporary tunes.  Join us before services one to two Fridays per month from 6:30-7:30 as we learn synagogue music together in a fun, participatory and inclusive experience. Then, take part in worship in the spontaneous music group we will have formed over the hour together. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

If you are already a part of ShirHaEsh, Zimria or our TE Band, this is for you!  If you are interested in joining one of our music groups, OR, if you simply want to learn the music we are singing in services, please join us!

Temple Emanu-El Band

The Temple Emanu-El band is composed of teens and adults. We come together for Special Shabbatot and have a blast. This is a great way to gain practice with your instrument through a real-time, supportive performance.

More advanced instrumentalists will discover this is an opportunity to be involved and lead the congregation in worship!
