March Music Madness

February 28, 2019 by Cantor Lauren Adesnik

March is the month for music! Just one week from today, the 10th annual Atlanta Jewish Music Festival begins. “Celebrating Jewish Contributions to Music” brings music for everyone. Here is what I am SUPER excited about:

If you are a Jazz/Broadway lover like I am, then you MUST go see the Bill Charlap Trio at the Atlanta History Center. They are playing March 7th @7:30 featuring the Songs of Leonard Bernstein. Leonard Bernstein a prolific composer spanning the gamut from classical music, to Broadway and Jazz, and often utilized sounds and themes of Jewish music. This is a great date night!

Movie music and Hollywood lovers will want to check out AJMF’s Salute to Hollywood. You will hear Jewish Contributions to the Academy Awards best Original Songs, held at the Breman Museum Sunday March 10th.

If you love Judaism, history, and American popular music, then this next event is for you. Jazz pianist, producer, singer and composer Ben Sidran will bring his interpretation and first person experience to illuminate Jewish contributions to American popular music.

If you want to hang out with your favorite cantor, I am planning to attend the two Thursday events, Bill Charlap Trio and Ben Sidran. It would be great to see you there!!!

There are more fantastic events than these, to see the entire lineup and buy tickets HERE You will be so glad you did!!!

But wait…there’s more! Purim is coming!! Our favorite adult night of parody and shtick, silliness and costumes will be here March 20th! QUEEN: A Shushanian Rhapsody is a not to miss original spiel written and performed by your TE community parody troupe: The New Shticks on the Block. Yes, that’s right- this spiel features your favorite hits by QUEEN! Sing, laugh, eat, drink and be merry! This evening is completely FREE, and not only features hilarious antics, lyrics and comedy but comes with all- you- can -eat heavy appetizers and adult beverages! This is THE place to celebrate Purim!

Come with your chavurah, bring your spouse or your best friends, and have an evening of fun away from the kids or grandkids, you will have a blast! RSVP HERE.

This month there is something for every music lover. Can’t wait to see you there!
