Sisterhood - Welcome to the Sisterhood of Temple Emanu-El. We are a strong, vibrant, and diverse group of women who span multiple generations. We show support for Temple Emanu-El by joining together in programs and activities that enrich our lives as Jewish women and strengthen and build friendships. We cultivate community, reinforce our Jewish customs and values, and through our educational and entertaining programming, we continue to repair the world through acts of loving kindness. Every program contains an aspect of Social Justice where we either donate to or participate in a charitable cause. Our Sisterhood is the heart of our Shul, and we welcome you with open arms. Temple Emanu-El Helps Local Ukrainian Evacuee Family
The Social Justice Committee has been hard at work finding ways to support the people of Ukraine. We would like to update you on what we are doing and how you could help. Temple Emanu-El Partnership with AURA Temple Emanu-El has been assigned to help settle two Ukrainian Evacuee families through a JF&CS project called AURA (Atlanta Ukrainian Evacuee Relief Assistance). The initial stages of this project are under way and we have already welcomed one of the families after a traumatic journey (we are meeting the second family soon). To help with the load of the work, we have partnered on portions of the project with The Temple of Atlanta. A little about the Shmidt family: Tolya and Elya are a young couple with 3 children (Tamila-age 1.5, Evelyn-age 6, and Vladlene -age 11). Forty Days of Waiting at Sinai and to the Moon
Tonight Israel will write a new chapter in human history. At 8:45pm EST SpaceIL, a privately funded Israeli space exploration company will launch Beresheet, an lunar lander aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida. To date, only three countries have ever landed on the moon: the United States, Russia, and China. Forty days from now, Israel will be the fourth country, in human history, to land on the moon. For our ancestors wandering in the desert, forty days was enough time to lose faith in God, build a golden calf, and worship a foreign idol. This week’s parasha is Ki Tisa, the parasha in which Moses tells the Israelites that he’ll return in forty days, but he ends up delaying a bit. Forty days of waiting at the foot of Mt. Sinai led the Israelites to throw their hands in the sky and turn to their other leader, Aaron, Moses’ brother, for a new path to follow. Over the next forty days, our … [Read more...]

Connect What makes you so passionate about Judaism? My passion for Judaism began at home. My parents were the first ones to foster a passion for Judaism in my life. Our home reflected the seasons and celebrations of the Jewish calendar. I felt as though Judaism was something to be enjoyed and explored. We kept kosher-style at home, we marked the end of each week with Shabbat candles, kiddush, and challah, and each holiday had its own unique home ritual. As I grew older I learned that there was a Judaism beyond what I was getting at home, so my exploration continued into the classroom, the synagogue, and most importantly for me-Israel. I feel a unique privilege in having attended Jewish day school from 5th through 12th grade. While a student at The Davis Academy and The Weber School, I had the special opportunity to live out my Jewish identity in the classroom, in extracurriculars, and with Jewish friends who held similar values. I was presented a Judaism that invited … [Read more...]
